Does it work?
One of the hardest thing about dieting is finding the time to make healthy food. Late for work? It’s much easier to grab a latte and a muffin than it is to wake up earlier and make yourself a healthy porridge breakfast. Frazzled after a hard day at the office? It’s easier to grab a takeaway than it is to cook lean healthy food. If you even have the ingredients in the house that is.
A home delivered diet plan is just removing these problems from your life. You are outsourcing the availability of healthy, nutritious food. It means that even if you are running late for work or you are too tired to go out to the supermarket at the end of a gruelling day you know you have the healthy food available at your fingertips and you just have to pop it in the microwae the or grab it out of the cupboard.
It’s not a magic bullet and it’s not a substitute for willpower. You need to have the resolve to stick to the eating plan. You need to be committed to make this change in your life. What it does do though is take away the practical barriers that make it harder to diet. You have just lost a whole lot of excuses and made things a lot easier for yourself. If you are serious about weight loss home delivery diet food plan makes it tough to give up which makes success all the more likely.
What happens in a typical program?
It depends on the program. There are multiple companies who provide diet home delivered food in the UK. Normally a program will start off with a face to face meeting with an advisor. You’ll be sat down and the advisor will get to know you and your likes and dislikes. For instance, they’ll find out what kind of food you like and dislike in order to try and create the best meal plan for you. Or they might find out whether you enjoy a glass of wine so they can work out a way to fit this in to your meal plan without ruining your chances of weight loss.
Once the interview is over a meal plan will be created tailored to your specific requirements. This will take in to account your current bodyshape, your target weight loss and your personal likes and dislikes. For instance, if you don’t like lasagne there is no point in having that on your menu plan. You will either just skip that meal, and increase your chance of failure, or force yourself to munch something you don’t like which is not a recipe for long term success.
The meal plan will cover every day of the week and include breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. All this food will be provided by home delivery by your selected diet food company. The only exception to this is fruit and vegetables. Usually you will have to make a fruit and veg run once a week in order to have these ingredients which are part of the meal plan but not provided. Of course, you are used to stocking up on fruit and veg anyway aren’t you?
After each week you will have a meeting with your appointed advisor. They will weigh you and discuss how you feel about the plan. This can be done either by going to an office of the company or remotely over the phone. If you haven’t enjoyed a particular food this is the time to raise it because you meal plan can be alternate to accommodate this. If you are losing weight too slowly, or perhaps even too quickly, your advisor will take note of this and adjust the number of calories in the meal plan accordingly.
One of the great, but of course daunting and difficult, parts of this weekly meeting is that it forces you discuss your weight loss with an external person who has bought to your success. If you have slacking and not sticking to the plan then you will have to explain yourself every week.
